The city of Albuquerque, New Mexico, has made it easier for people to get an appointment with a psychologist.
The city recently added its first psychologist in the state, and it plans to add more soon.
A mental health nurse assistant is an individual who provides services to the community and who works in a clinic, health clinic or mental health facility.
They can perform a range of services, including assessment, consultation, and referral.
As a nurse assistant, you can:Assess the needs of people with mental health conditions and help them manage their symptoms, according to a city news release.
Provide referrals for appointments with a mental healthcare provider, the city said.
Assist with scheduling appointments with mental healthcare providers.
Work in a community setting to help people cope with the challenges of their mental health.
Providing support for people in crisis, the City said.
Provides assistance with medications, medications, and counseling.
Provided mental health referrals to those in crisis.
In 2018, Albuquerque opened a new clinic in the city, called the Center for Mental Health Excellence.
It’s now accepting applications for its first staff member.
In 2019, the mayor’s office opened the Albuquerque Center for the Developmentally Disabled to help individuals with disabilities navigate their mental illness and recovery.
The city said it is also working with the state Department of Health and Human Services to create a statewide mental health resource network.
